For 2012, Audi now offers a third version of the TT, which is a bit more powerful and luxurious. The TT-RS is an all out supercar and thus the price soars. But the 2012 Audi TTS hits the sweet spot. This car comes in both hardtop and roadster configurations. The base price for these 2 models ranges from $47,000 to $50,000. The Audi TTS is one of the cheapest sports cars you can buy. You get a great engine, tons of luxury amenities, and a sexy looking body.
This second generation of the Audi TTS is a great evolution in terms of the body style. The entire car looks more aggressive. The Audi really stands out from any other body style in the Audi line-up. Only the R8 supercar can turn more heads. And that ride costs almost 4xs the TTS. The first generation TT was unveiled in 1998 and the original shape remains. The only thing wrong with the first car was that it might not be able to compete at the same speed as the Porsche Cayman or the BMW M3. But those cars cost a lot more too!
Now Audi has released the TTS to compete with these other vehicle. This Audi TTS has a high-performance magnetic suspension and Quattro AWD system in its corner. The TTS engine uses the small 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine found in many other Audi vehicles like the A4, A4, and Q5. But the TTS engine has been given a new tune-up with increases in boost pressure. The result is a nice round 265 hp and 258 lb-ft. These figures are higher than that produced by the 3.2 liter 6-cylinder engine that used to be found on the TT. This higher performance is achieved by adding direct injection, increasing the turbo boost pressure to 17.4 psi and amending several internal engine components. As for the transmission, the only one available in America is dual-clutch S-Tronic 6-speed manual transmission. 0-60 MPH flies by in 5.4 seconds. The changes to the 2.0 liter engine definitely improved the performance of the TTS.
Some of the best points of the 2012 Audi TTS are the sound of the exhaust, the handling, the fantastic S-tronic transmission, the overall beauty of the exterior, and the overall performance. The advantage of the Audi TTS Convertible is that you can enjoy driving with the wind in your hair. The cloth top is retractable and can be lowered in seconds.

The interior is beautifully done featuring a mixture of leather and Alcantara. As an option you can get huge 19-inch wheels shod with 255/35/R18 sport tires. Through the large rims the large disc braking system can be seen. The suspension has been revised which is lowered by 40mm. The magnetic suspension is comfortable enough on the road but firm enough to really take the corners.
As for the cabin, it is still small but comfortable. The storage spaces are few and the trunk is perfect for a briefcase or small piece of luggage. This is because the top takes up the room. But the coupe model has a bit more space. The 21012 Audi TTS is still cheaper than its German rivals. If you are only interested in the convertible aspect you can opt for the base model TT. Or if you want supercar performance you can get the more expensive TT-RS. But the TTS is a perfect combination of both.
The Audi TTS is one of the cheapest convertible sports cars you can buy. But at $50k it is still out of reach for many of us car enthusiasts. Instead you can lease an Audi TT Convertible for less than $500 per month!
