Trust in any relationship is the most fundamental requirement and it does not matter if the relationship is between parents, siblings, spouse or friends. Relationship between spouses or partners though is the most difficult part because of so many factors and once trust is broken then the relationship itself may break down.
Betraying the trust of your partner is ugly to only to the other person but it also brings up lots ugly truths about your own integrity and ability as a person. Denying the truth and running away from it may actually make you loose confidence in yourself as a person. But for so many reasons if you loose your partner’s trust the first thing is to accept the truth and tell it to your partner. Make your partner understand that the ‘lying phase’ is over and from now on truth is what should be expected and given.
Betraying your partner’s trust also means the other person is hurt and wronged and though not all wrongs can be undone you can make sure you at least try your best to do the right thing. Though ‘talking it out may sound cliché talking about things actually helps and though men may find it difficult to talk in detail it actually helps a woman and showing her you are willing to go through the process will definitely gain your partner’s trust to an extent.
The best way to gain trust is by owning up your mistakes and taking responsibility for it. Just owning up to the faults will never gain your partner’s trust but take responsibility for the consequences. Another mistake men make is to think that since they admitted to their mistake the healing process will start immediately. It takes a lot of time for a person betrayed to trust again so give it plenty of time. Do not try to hurry up the process. It takes just a minute to betray but years to heal the pain even if you feel years is quite a long time you will eventually gain back the trust and once trust is gained back after a betrayal it is the most strong bond and will not break that easily.
